Gerard Harford Joins Medica Packaging Limited as Managing Director
Gerard Harford has joined Medica Packaging Limited as Managing Director. Harford has been employed in the Packaging Industry for over 25 years, actively involved in both the FMCG and Pharmaceutical and Healthcare markets.
In 2006 he became the owner of Storey Evans & Co Ltd, an independent Pharmaceutical & Healthcare Packaging supplier, which was successfully acquired as part of European Contego Healthcare Packaging Group. Harford successfully led Contego Healthcare as Managing Director of the UK and then recently as part of Essentra PLC.
Commenting on his appointment Gerard Harford said, “I am delighted to be joining such a progressive, service focused business. Under the ownership of Sullivan Street Partners, Medica Packaging has re-established itself as the UK’s leading independent supplier to the Pharmaceutical & Healthcare market sectors for printed cartons and patient information leaflets”.
“This is a demanding market sector, where there is a growing desire from customers for a truly independent, service and quality focused, competitive producer. Medica is therefore a compelling opportunity both for clients and myself.”
“The Management at Medica have a renewed energy and enthusiasm under independent ownership and I look forward to working with this excellent Team to continue to offer the sector a real market alternative option”.
John Bath, CEO since Medica was acquired by Sullivan Street Partners from the Benson Group, will become Chairman and continue to be actively involved in the business. He said, “When Medica left the Benson group, I focused the company on our vision of Growth Through Excellence and our mission to become our customers’ most valued provider. Specialising in the markets we serve, we have an excellent record on quality and service, and I am pleased that Gerard will now be leading the company to capitalise on the significant progress we have already made.”
Commenting, Richard Sanders, Co-founder of Sullivan Street Partners said, “John has done a great job in re-establishing Medica as a good business; ensuring it is delivering to our high standards for all stakeholders. Adding Gerard to our team at Medica, with his significant experience, shows that the last 18 months is just the start of our long term journey.”
